Vermiculture

The presence of earthworms is the sign of healthy soil. In theory, it's easy to do and requires minimal care. Vermiculture (http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/chatham/ag/SustAg/vermilinks.html), or the raising of earthworms for commercial sale, seems to be a low cost enterprise that some Montagnards could tackle. The obvious outlets would be farmers' markets and shops carrying fishing tackle and bait. I have never seen earthworms for sale at farmers' markets or garden shops, but these would be natural points of sale, places where gardeners, food enthusiasts, organic growers and sustainable farmers congregate.

The investment in supplies, materials, and time are adjustable and if the project failed, would not adversely impact the refugee's fortunes. As an introduction to entreprenuership, it could be a simple and achievable project.
